Last night, I dreamed of marzipan stollen, so I awoke craving it. I wish I had brought some back from Germany and stashed it in the freezer.
Ever had a strange food craving that you couldn't satisfy? What's a good substitute for stollen?

being 3/4 german, i had a desire for a german christmas tradition this past december. the lutefisk (which i actually don't partake in) covers the swedish 1/4, but i had nothing to speak to my german heart. so, i convinced my 1/2 german mom to make some stollen with me. since we were short on time, i started it and she finished it.
unfortunately, 125% doesn't equal the innate ability to make good stollen. i blame her. she's too swedish.
I understand your craving. I love stollen with a big glass of ice cold milk! Guess you'll just have to come over and visit again to get some more of the real thing!

Julie - I'm worried mine would turn out more like a brick than bread. I guess Dan is right, I'll just have to tough it out until my next visit.
Looks like it needs more frosting to me.
It's not rich like American cake with butter cream frosting, that's for sure :0)
