DILBERT

update, originally uploaded by Patrick Q.

Not sure what I'd do without my daily dose of Dilbert.

Today's comic ties in with the eBay woes I've experienced this past week. (Like you want to hear about them, but I'll document it for posterity.)

It all started when I tried to log in to my account one night and couldn't. Was I worried? A little...I tried logging into Paypal, too; same problem. OK, so maybe I was a bit afraid at that point.

So I checked my email account, and sure enough, I'd received an email from eBay; my eBay identity had been compromised. The letter gave no explanation. It did instruct me to change all the passwords on any important accounts. I did. It took forever.

Any good news? Well, it looks like nobody actually did any buying, selling, or withdrawals. I don't want this mess to repeat itself, so I made my passwords really difficult this time. I dislike long passwords because they are a hassle to input, but I guess I have no choice since htey are ultimately safer.

How about you? Are you a simple password user who likes to live dangerously? Or do you spend an hour typing in a mega password that makes your account as secure than the safes at Fort Knox?
